Gaesatae (which translates from Gaulish as javelin men") is a nation wide, experemental archeology and living history group gounded in 1997 to develope an appreciation of how our ancient past effects the present in a realistic and meaningful way.  It's members present an accurate depiction of life and customs of the peoples involved in Julius Caesar's Gallic Wars of the mid first century BCE, namely: the Gauls, the Romans, their auxilaries, the Britons, and the Germans. Gaesatae's members are skilled in period astisan crafts including: forgeing Iron Age: weapons, tools, and armor; textiles, agriculture and food preparation, language, religious beliefs, recreation, martial training, and warfare. The group engages in ongoing historical and archeological research, and scientifically based experiments to insure authenticity in presentations. Gaesatae is not affiliated with any religious, secret, political or hate groups. It is souly devoted to academic research and education.
